Scarlett Johansson (right) takes on the role of actress Janet Leigh in a chilling new biopic about the making of Psycho, Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller. Anthony Hopkins plays the titular role in Hitchcock, which explores the director’s struggle to finance the cult film, and his volcanic marriage to Alma, played by Helen Mirren. Alma, regarded as the brains behind Hitchcock’s work, lived a life overshadowed by her husband’s ego and obsession with his heroines. Jessica Biel also stars. Out on February 8 (UK)

The first must–see blockbuster exhibition of the year will be in London at the Royal Academy, which is staging a major show dedicated to the portraiture of Édouard Manet.
