She sings, she hates spiders, she washes her face with black soap and she also happens to have the most enviable closet of impeccable tailoring – step forward one of the most loveable and stylish screen icons of all time – Annie Hall.

The title character in Woody Allen’s 1977 film, Miss Hall is played by Diane Keaton, who picked up an Academy Award for her performance as the gamine beauty whose boyish wardrobe comes courtesy of Ralph Lauren.

Her capsule wardrobe of waitcoats, ties, pants, shirts and hats perfectly reflects her idiosyncratic personality.

The film is narrated by Alvy Signer, Annie’s ex-boyfriend (portrayed by Allen himself) as he examines exactly where their relationship floundered. It’s funny, it’s stylish and it’s a classic. If you haven’t seen it you should most definitely be asking yourself why.
