With New York Fashion Week in full swing, we’re in a Manhattan state of mind for Fashion Film Friday. Cue the classic ‘60s flick that epitomizes Big Apple chic – Breakfast at Tiffany’s, starring the iconic Audrey Hepburn.
Considered to be the best performance of her career, it was Hepburn’s witty portrayal of charming-but-kooky New York socialite Holly Golightly that made the film a box office smash.
….And then there’s the fashion. With Hepburn’s costumes designed by pioneering Parisian couturier Hubert de Givenchy, the film set a new benchmark for chic, propelling the sleek and oh-so-flattering LBD (or Little Black Dress) into our fashion consciousness forever more.
Achingly elegant, the fitted satin Givenchy gown pictured above became the standout look of the movie. Offset by a diamond and pearl collar necklace, oversized shades and long silk gloves – is there any wonder the fashion pack are still lusting after this outfit today?
FASHION FILM FRIDAY BEAUTY TIP: World renowned makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury tells us how to get the look.

Since I was a little girl I’ve admired the beauty, femininity and glamour of the classic Hollywood sirens. I covered my walls with pictures of them and used my mother’s makeup to copy their looks. Audrey Hepburn is all about those amazing eyes: loads of mascara, liner and false lashes; and gorgeous thick, squared, straight eyebrows. Bronzer to contour the cheekbones, pink blush and soft lips played right down. Makes me fall in love with New York again and again! – Charlotte Tilbury
